Hi, I’m Gem. I’ve created this blog to document and share my experiences of managing and maintaining positive and healthy mental health and wellbeing. Mental health is something which is still very stigmatized in society, but the more we talk about it, the more we help people to feel able to talk freely, which is one of the purposes of my blog. I have an anxiety disorder, and have experienced this on and off for the last five years, so I can appreciate and understand what is it like daily living with and managing a mental health condition. My blog is also about documenting the things that I do on a daily basis in order to help myself. It can be hard sometimes to look back on things you used to do before a period of mental illness, and it can be very easy to forget the habits and practices we can do to help ourselves, so this blog is also a personal exercise for me to document the things I know work for me for present and future use, and to share these with other people. Lastly, I also enjoy creative writing, so this is a way I can practice those skills as well as giving something back to the world. I hope my blog gives you ideas, insight and inspires you, whether you have mental health issues or not. We’re all human and we all need to take care of our mental wellbeing as much as our physical wellbeing, hence the title of this blog, mind AND matter. The are both linked, and interlinked. They are both of equal importance and one affects the other. So relax, enjoy, and feel free to get involved and share your good practice tips and ideas too 🙂
